I’ve searched the forum and wasn’t able to find much on the subject of the original boxes for the 100 series fixed blades beginning in 1961 when Buck incorporated. Mostly what I found was relating to folders.
I’ve noticed the old tan boxes have different dimensions for the same model knife. For example, I have a 119 box that measures 13.25”L x 2.25”W x 1.75”H and one that measures 13.5” x 2.875” x 1.75”. I’ve got other models that exhibit similar size differences. My guess is the box size probably changed when the change from keeper strap to flap over sheath occurred but that’s just a guess. Would it be safe to assume the smaller dimensioned boxes were 1961 to 64.
