There are a few things that seem to be the same for most of us here and a lot of people in general. Knives, flashlights and watches come to mind.

I have an obsession with boxes and containers, from tools boxes, to ammo cans, to small wooden boxes with nice looking inlays. I'll save ice cream tubs and vitamin jars to keep little bits and pieces in.

I also like gadget oriented bags/packs.

Am I alone? What are your weird obsessions?

I have a Pelican Case obsession. My goal is to have a complete Pelican Case house, ie: Cube Case coffee table, the biggest pelican case for a dresser, foot locker, all my gear stashed in stackable pelican Cube Cases etc etc etc.

i already have a fair number of the damn things..... :D

no, you're not alone.

when i first saw the title, i immediatly thought of cardboard/shipping type boxes, and i was all prepared to tell you how wierd you are.

i also like pelicans, storm cases, packs, etc. i have more packs and cases than i have stuff to put in them.

Does looking for that perfect airtight container to store individual knives in count?

I tend to break down cardboard boxes and store them rather than toss them, never know when you will need "that" sized box for shipping. I also have dozens of ammo cans that I use for...what else...ammo. Pill bottles are saved as well...all sorts of small parts can fit in them.

My Dad had kind of an obsession with decorative boxes like jewelry boxes and such. He had hundreds, maybe thousands of them all the way from a thimble size to big enough to put a few big books in. All different kinds; painted, unpainted, wood, metal and stone. I saved a few of them after he passed away, because as kooky as it was, he had some super cool ones. My wife has several of his alabaster and jade boxes for her jewelry.

I save those too, at least for a while until I'm sure I don't need them :o Usually only to ship stuff to my family, and such, so they get thrown out after a while of building up.

The thing is, its just damn practical to have something to keep all your stuff in, I'm by no means a hoarder, but I can't throw out things that will come in handy, like screws, etc. and I like to keep my knives, flashlights and watches safe =P

Exactly the same here. Im a terror for collecting tins, tubes, capsules, tubs, boxes & plastic cases of all sorts.

I have Pelican boxes inside other pelican boxes.......i ashamedly admit that i purchased a 350 Cube Case just to store my smaller Peli cases (with stuff in them) while going camping........

Yeah, I noticed in one of your threads that you had some smaller (1020?) Peli cases in your bigger, toploading Pelicase. That's pretty extreme. You need help! Send me half of your Peli cases, heck I'll even cover shipping....:D

I'm just jealous:o. I haven't nearly enough Pelicases, Otterboxes or Zarges boxes....

I'm more of a bag guy, but I do love a good case. Especially those cases with the foam that can be cut to shape. Man I love those. Especially when they are metal cases so they look all fancy and important...

*sigh*

Especially when they are filled with a custom made GAP rifle....

I have dozens of those plastic bins you buy at walmart for storage.

Unfortunately, they are all full of "stuff". I buy them and toss "stuff" in them so I don't have to actually find a place for it!

I have a wet basement so they are perfect storage. They don't get wet, don't rot out and keeps any miceys out of the box.

Do you put those little dessication packs in there? I like to keep them for my "stuff boxes".

Does anyone know where to buy those packs at a reasonable price?

I have nearly filled the carriage house with cardboard boxes. I keep thinking I'll need them when (if) I ever get around to selling some old stuff on eBay. The thing is, boxes keep coming faster than I mail things. So I've started throwing away the largest boxes... Never threw boxes away before, always kept them for the next move. But we own our home now and are rather settled in.

Other obsessions:

I'm a sucker for bags and packs. Lowepro camera bags, bicycle trunk and pannier bags, work bags, field bags...

But the one obsession that takes up the most space and weight, computers and related stuff. This year I broke even though, finding homes for every stray computer that I took in, almost a dozen. What I really need is to get the third floor finished so I have time and work space to start testing equipment and throwing out the stuff that doesn't work.

I like saving cardboard boxes too! Always needing odd size boxes and it's handy to have em around. I also have a collection of cigar boxes. They're not something I go around looking for, they just accumulate at the rate of 3 or 4 a month. :) I use some of em but there's still a stack in my bedroom. Wish I could find someone around here that had a use for em!! They're not the fancy wooden ones by the way.

Wow, I thought I was the only one...

Pelican, Otter, Starlight, Hardigg, Dokosil, med bottles, Maxpedition, Spec-Ops, something Creek, Victorinox, and then the cardboard ones start...

Gotta have a place for my "stuff" (RIP George)

we are all wierd. there should be an on line community where we could all congregate and discuss our strange obsessions and hobbies.

Boxes are good - the only one I don't want is the one they'll bury me in :D
