In doing some research I found in my experience that LB7's and LB8's stamped Schrade + came in signature boxes. White boxes for LB7 and brown for the LB8. I noticed Uncle Henry signature stamped blades came in "Sharp Idea" boxes. When did the "Sharp Idea" boxes come out and did non signature blades (Schrade+) come in these boxes too?

From what I can tell, the "Sharp Idea" boxes came out in the mid-1980's. I've not found a direct correlation between the tang diestamp changes and packaging changes. The slogan "A Sharp Idea" first appeared in 1985 and was used for quite a few years. Other slogans, trade names and trademarks and copyright dates on the packaging and papers are a more positive way of roughly dating the knife, assuming the knife is original to that packaging and paperwork. One can be pretty positive that a box with a copyright of 1990 was not produced before that date.

But some collectors are known to seperate their knives from the packaging for play and display, and "rematch" them for eventual sale, sometimes mismatching them.
