I'm talking to my friend on the phone right now. I was opening a package and using an old, cheap knife to do so (don't even know the brand...all it says is "Stainless China"). I nearly dropped my phone (was holding it to my ear with my shoulder) and in my haste to catch it, dragged the edge of my knife (including serrations) across my knuckles.

...and nada. This knife is such a cheap, dull piece of junk that my fingers didn't even get a scratch mark on them. And this is why I don't use any of my Spydies/CS/etc. knives for package duty :)

The trick is to use a sharp knife, but pay complete attention to what you are doing.

You don't do two things at once when one of those things is using a knife.

I disagree. I think that killing a zombie with a knife in one hand and then eating a sandwich is perfectly acceptable.

Beyond that to the OP Dull knives are the reason for accidents (plus being distracted:))

I concur with both of you...

to the OP; don't blame u not getting hurt on the knife being a cheapy...blame it on you not keeping it sharp!

I agree, but only if the sandwich has bacon on it.

Yeah you really should use a sharp knife and pay attention for all the 2.8 seconds it will take.

1. When you are using sharp tools, you should give it your undivided attention. Same thing with driving.
2. These days we have speaker phones and headsets, use them. If you don't have either, join the 21st century and get one.

Step 1, only obey one instruction I give you.
Step 2, obey both of these instructions.

:p

Seems like he was doing three things....

Opening the package, talking to the friend and typing the post!
