Well, we made it back. Traffic was a nightmare, but everyone is fine. Houston dodged the bullet , but they sure got nailed east of here. Has anyone heard from James Kinney? He said he wasn't going to leave Beaumont and they got hit pretty hard. Hope he is OK. Thanks for the good thoughts. This was really a learning experience. I thought I was pretty prepared, but I will be more ready next time. Thanks again for prayers and well sishes. Need to catch up on the forums news.

Glad you made it OK, Terry.

JamesRay posted yesterday, so I think he's fine.

I am ok...

I think the police are adding to the problems here more than helping...
They have set up road blocks just BEFORE the places where you can get supplies, and tell people that if you cross the lines, that you cannot get back in... W.T.F.!!!
They did such a good job(from what I have heard) stopping looters in the first day, it is sad to see them obstruction the recovery...
They seem to think that stopping looters is the ONLY thing that matters here.
They want everyone to LEAVE so that there will not be any looting...
But if your house is destroyed because you are not allowed to repair it, what difference would looting make to you!

The whirlybird on my roof flew off leaving the one foot pipe sticking up...I MUST cover that before we get any rain, but have not been able to get ahold of a ladder... Plus I am NOT going to go climbing on my roof without someone there... An accedent in conditions like this would NOT be a good thing...

Glad your OK james. When we left Thursday the police just kind of stood back and watched. It was pretty much a free for all on the highways. But people for the most part were cordial and very few a**holes. Be careful and don't hurt yourself, I'm sure medical help is still kind of limited as well.

The people in Vidor are well armed and probably not adverse to using them. Hope we don't see any confrontations over there. It could get real nasty.

Stuff is easy to replace. People are more difficult. Fortunately, neither need replacing in this case.

I'd say that things turned out fairly well overall. :) Good news.

Sometimes, getting Nasty is what's needed...

I've liked nasty since I was six years old and first encountered what I was told was nasty. Then come to find out my parents were also being nasty once in a while.
There are varying degrees of nasty and then there's Nasty, who is nasty in a whole new way. We need more Nastys who are nasty in a whole new way.
If we had more Nastys like that the world would be a better place to live in and perhaps so may folks wouldn't *need* killin.;) :D

Glad everything was better than expected Terry!!!! :D
