I was wondering how the Boye dent was put into the lock. Is the lock actually manurfactured like that or is the dent cut out at a later time? If it is cut out would it be possible to contact Spyderco and order a knife and ask them to skip the step where they do that (this probably isn't possible but it would be cool)? I'm not a fan of the Boye dent and its easier for me to close it one handed when its flush with the handle. Plus I never had my first Spyderco ever close on my hand and it didn't have the dent. I really loved that knife... I hate that I lost it. :(

i'm pretty sure the lock-dent was actually manufactured like that, they'd simply put a new shape in the mold and create a template for the new boye-lock. it would seem highly unlikely that they use the standard lock and cut out the dent later. that wouldn't be very production-effective i think.

I am pretty sure they are made with the dent as well.

I know there are some avid Spyderco fans that have been fighting on your side Bodieism. Some people love the Boye Dent, some hate it, and the people like me who are happy either way.
