Can anyone provide info as to whether a knife maker named Boyle and gamble Richmond va 1862 is real? I am looking at a bowie so marked, which also is marked E C Jenkins, 21st Virginia, Richmond Va and C. S.

Don't know about the knife but the "21sr Virginia Richmond Va and C S" looked to me like 21st Regiment of Virginia, Confederate States.

A quick Google search of that did indeed show said regiment being formed in 1861.

No one can say without a picture. Boyle and Gamble made real edged weapons for the Confederacy, but they are one of the most heavily faked names among Civil War artifacts.

here are some pictures. Will Gorges at Battleground Antiques looked at the pics and declared the knife to be 100% guaranteed fake. Thanks for your input.
