I posted an earlier thread about a Boy's axe I was trying to assemble:

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1060001-Hanging-Plumb-Boy-s-axe

The eye was punched off-center, and I couldn't get it to hang right.

I found another one (for a lot less $). Rusty, with a cracked old haft:

Not sure if that's rust, some of it flaked off?
Good news is, it fits on the haft I had been fitting on the first one.
More work to do here, but I'm glad it's not too small!

Cleanup time. Man, I love this cheapo angle grinder!

Here's the results:

Even thought the poll has seen a few whacks, I think I'll leave it. A previous owner removed some mushrooming.
I love the patina the wire wheel leaves, Don't think I'll be using vinegar again.
The head weighs 2 lb 2.5 ozs, a little lighter than the Plumb. The eye walls are thinner.
Funny, even though the eye is not perfect it hangs straight!

Still a little more work to do on the swell, as well as the shoulder:

Now that's a fine axe. Good geometry and it looks pretty fresh. The heel and toe are both look OK and the poll isn't mangled. And a True Temper Flint Edge, too!

I think True Temper acquired Kelly (and the rights to the Flint Edge name) in 1947 so your axe must post date that.

Oh, and I hope you seat it down a little closer to the shoulder before you wedge it.

It sure looks good so far. I liked the Plumb head too, but it was beyond my abilities at this point. I'm just lovin' the way it sits nice and straight : )

This one doesn't seem like it was sharpened much. That will be next. I've got some good sharp files now, a couple I found at yard sales, looking for axes.

Yup, that pic was just to try it on the haft I had shaped for the Plumb. It will definitely be closer to the shoulder. I got a "cheese grater" looking rasp/plane today to help with that job.

That looks really nice
I've got one of those TT Flint Edge boys axes myself, so I know that you will really enjoy it!

I have a few like this too. True Temper Flint Edge. No Kelly works in the stamp. I'm wondering if these post-date the ones with the Kelly Works stamp.

It's a nice one at any rate.

I keep plugging along on this one, still shaping the handle, I want to get it right.
Als0, I may grind the poll smooth before I hang it.

Got it hung, sanded etc. Finished sharpening today. Hopefully use it tomorrow.

Took me a while, but the first one is a learning process, I suppose.
Head is on straight too!
