A friend showed me a picture of a boys axe on about a 20 inch handle marked Bell system the shop had it marked $70 I think that was high . Opinions ?

I did some looking plus ask a retired Bell employee . They aren't rare 40-50 years ago nearly all lineman had an axe or hatchets and Bell had every tool issued marked Bell system. Ebay prices don't show it worth asking price in current condition . So I would value it as a basic true temper boys axe in fair condition with a rough haft

when I see an axe / hatchet that I like on ebay, it's actually a detractor to me personally if it is also stamped Bell System. I've passed on a couple boys axe heads before because of the stamp. seems silly, but there are plenty to choose from without the stamp

Flint, I have the same thing happen. I have no idea if Bell spec'd them or just stamped them. And if they were spec'd I don't know if they were for lowest cost or higher standard. So I look elsewhere, too. If I knew more I would pay more attention to them.

The phone guy at work started at Bell in the early 60's. After retiring from there now works at our hospital said every thing that was bought was stamped some came stamped bell system and others were done in the shop

I have a bell systems hammer that I love to use , I think it was used to work on brackets on telephone poles
