First I should introduce myself again. I’ve been lurking here for a long time but really don’t post that much. I think most of my posts have been of questionable sanity but that doesn’t seem to stick out much here. Since the last time I’ve posted I have given away almost all of my Beckers. Including my baby.

So mommy was working and I figured this would be the best time to take the little guy out with the knife that the man himself gave him at Blade show last year. I was waiting to let him take it out until he was a little bit more responsible but couldn’t help it so I took it to the belt sander and rounded the edge. It still does what he wants it to do but it won’t cut him if it slips. This was a training day. We have a state park not too far from us and I figured it would be a great day for a hike.

This is the first time this knife touched anything but the sheath. He wanted to dig for bugs.

Then he tried to shave some wood. (my bad; the knife is dull as heck and he’s trying so hard to shave the knot off)

A view of the stream the path follows.

We wandered off the path at some point so I figured it would be a good time to stop for lunch.

This is the bag I grabbed for the day. It’s some bag from LA Police gear that came free with some pants. I’ve had it sitting in the closet for a long time and never took it out. Not sure what it is but it actually really worked for a little day trip. May have to give this one a little more woods time.

Sneaky little bugger. I look away to get my sandwich and soda out of the bag; turn around and this little sneak picked up a flat rock and was trying to sharpen his knife. I said “what in the world are you doing” he looked me right in the face and said “it doesn’t really seem that sharp”. Balls! He’s on to me.

We went hunting for fatwood and had a rough time. Usually we can find it right away but this time we must have checked ten stumps before finding this little vein.

A little buddy that was in the stump as well.

A great little hike with the Z man ended in the “daddy can we take this special rock home?” (of course the rock is in the yard now) And who would of thought that "kerplunk" was a game you could play for 30 minutes?

I didn’t have the wife with me to take care of the dog so no real knife time with daddy. I did bring along the knife that has become my go to knife for any outing. I’m not going to say who makes it because I’m going to try and rush his booth at Blade. But here it is. (huhmm.....cough....T.M. HUNT...cough...)

Hope you all enjoyed the pics. The little guy loves the knife Mr. Becker; thank you so much for being as nice as you are and for making such great knives. Looking forward to seeing you all at Blade and I hope I can make the gathering as well.

Wow. I'm beside myself......I saw a thread started by Tankerwolf and as soon as I saw that I wanted to comment based on the fact that I know the dude and haven't heard from him forever. Fisrt of all, let me say its good to hear from you again. Second of all let me say how happy I am to hear that you are still happy with the knife you got from me that has now become known as the Yuma. Yours was the second one I ever made. What a privelage to be a part of your thread. Thank you Tanker. Hope to see you at Blade.

Hey buddy. I have been reading posts the whole time just been too busy (read.. lazy) to actually sign in and type anything but I figured this had to go up due to the fact that the man himself gave my son the knife at Blade. Yes. I absolutely love your knife. I don’t know if you can tell from the pictures but I have beaten the ever loving piss out of that knife and it has taken it all in stride. You seem to be coming up in the knife world and it is well deserved. A great person making great knives. We will definitely be scooting to your booth at Blade so that my family can stop playing grabby patty with your knife. On a side note I found these Christmas snowball toys that have a vibration sensor in them that laughs like a maniac when it hits something. I think my next project (when I can find a break from the umpteen other obligations) will be to make a BK-7 that laughs hysterically when you chop with it. A little bit tougher task then the GITD BK-2 because of the thinner profile. I traded the BK-7 in the first pic for a stock BNIB BK-7 just because I love doing crazy mods on these knives. Kudos again to the big guy for making such fun knives to mod.
Anywho. Still here and kicking just been busy.

Awesome post and awesome knifes! Looks like you two had a great day. Reminds me alot of my childhood digging for bugs and stuff with my Dad.

Got any more pics of that 7? I like what you did with it.

"It doesn't really seem that sharp."

ha! Sounds like the little man knows his stuff. Give him a little bit of an edge. Seems like he knows how to handle a knife. We're all gonna cut ourselves some time. Learning with a dull blade might teach him to be complacent. I'm not saying give him a hair popping razor edge, but something that he can shave some wood with anyways.

Looks like a great time! Smart kid.

Thanks for sharing some fine times with us......Your son is a real pistol.......Whatta guy !....... Looking forward to seeing you both at Blade........
