He's only 2 but he knows daddy makes knives... for the last month or so he has been saying "daddy make my a knife" anytime I brought one in the house... so thought I'd make him one...
It is of course not sharpened with a blunt point but in all other ways is a real knife... the blade is 1084 tempered down to a 52 RC for fillet knife like resilience to take the worst a little boy might throw at it. She has a copper guard and a local montana blacktail stag handle with red linen micarta spacer... didn't realize I was out of copper pin stock till after I drilled the pin hole so the pin is epoxy.
The cutting edge is right at .012 thickness, about as sharp as a butter knife now but when he is older she will take a keen edge and he can take her out on our first hunting trip.
