First off, I'm not much of a writer so please excuse the quality of this review. I recieved my Duncan Whiplash a little over a week ago at the SOS show and I have carried it constantly since then. Here are a few of my observations.

Specs-Blade length is apx 3.5" long. Overall length is apx 8". Scale material is black linen micarta. Blade material is Ats-34/Stellite.
Liners are titanium and very thick:D . I could'nt find my mic to measure but the thickness should please those people who wish for thick liners. The back is open with 7 titanium spaces. Bolsters are bead blasted titanium. Dual thumbstuds and a titanium clip mounted for tip-up carry round out the specs.

Fit & Finish-Excellent! The grind plunges match perfectly. The blade has a smooth even bead blast finish. Liners have been polished to a nice shine. Fit between the dovetailed bolsters and the micarta scales is tight. Opening is super smooth and fast thanks to Brad's use of sealed bearings. Once you get past the detent, the blade glides open and locks with a satisfying click. I detected ZERO blade play when open. The micarta scales are contoured for an excellent grip.

Performance. Cutting abilty of knives can be very subjective so I will just tell you what I cut with the knife and let you be the judge. I started with a thick cardboard shoebox. I made apx 35 cuts each about 8" in length. The recurve of the blade and thinness of the grind made easy work of this. Afterwards the knife still popped arm hairs. During the week I used the knife for general chores such as opening boxes, cutting up food, cutting some nylon rope etc... with no trouble and still hair popping sharp. I decided to try something that had caused edge chipping in a factory ats-34 blade, cutting extension cords. I made 3 cuts in an average size cord from an old lamp. There was no evidence of chipping or rolling of the edge. The blade would still shave hair albet not as easily as it had before.

Overall Impressions- I am very happy with the Whiplash. It rides low in my pocket, has a slim profile and is very quick in opening. Workmanship is top notch. Brad is very customer oriented. I went by his table on thursday and noticed that he didnt have a folder with my fav black linen micarta scales. Brad said no problem. Pick out the one you want and I will put black linen on it. I came back saturday and the knife was waiting for me. Very cool.:D Thanks Brad.

I would have to say if somebody was in the market for a medium sized tactical style folder, the should definetly give Brad's knives a look.

Sorry bout the pic. For some reason it turned out huge so i removed it.

Here is a crappy pic of the knife. I'm not very good at PhotoDeluxe yet.

Excellent review James!!
I got mine about a week before you did, and it has been my daily carry since.
Only difference is I stayed with the carbon fiber scales.
I have cut about the same things have including cardboard, plastic ties, plastic milk jugs, wood, but NO electrical wire. I am not quite that brave.
Anyway the edge has held up amazingly better than most of my other knives with different steels to the same kind of cutting.
I am impressed with the excellent workmanship that he did on the making of this knife, and the smoothness of the opening/closing of the knife. Fits my kind perfectly, and the curve of the blade makes it cut very well. I really like the new shape of blade he has come up with, and nice belly the blade has.
The only other thing I did was sharpen it with my Model M Eze-Lap sharpner to give it a toothy edge, and gads is it sharp. Shaves hair like you were using a razor blade!!
I called, and talked to Brad about this knife, and how impressed with it, and he was great to talk to, and really appreciated my input, and how I liked the way it cut.
Just thought I would add little input to your post james, and say how impressed I was with knife also.

Just my .02 cents rounded off to a buck.
Larry

PS-Great knife, great person to talk to!!:)

How does mine compare to some of the other customs as far as smoothness.Does anyone own one of mine ,Chews,Davidsons,or any other bearing pivot folder on the market.I have handled all in side by side comparisons and my results were very pleasing. What were your results?
Thanks for the great review James.

Brad... since you are listening, I wanted to know if you do a smaller gent's version of the Whiplash? I have been admiring your knives from afar for a while, but I don't carry much over a 3 inch blade. Do you do a version with an under 3inch blade?

BTW...in my limited experience I have only handled a few and these are some of the smoothest. Can't compare much because I haven't put any to extended use.

Hi J.T.
I do infact make a smaller WhipLash manual with a 2.7" blade and bearing pivot. You can get a Full size Whiplash Manual for 450.00 with 154cm.A sharpfusion blade will add 50.00 to that price. The smaller ones are 25.00 less then the full size.I have to say you get alot of knife for the money.I will answer any more questions you have in this thread.I can make the small ones in any material you wish.
Thanks for your interest.
Brad

Thanks for posting this review Samhell. It's good to hear good things about this edge and to hear about both your experience with it as well as Larry Luana's.
