This is called the "Silent Operator" Built as a heavy duty tactical folder with big thick titanium liners. Pretty ain't it...........

That's a nice one allright. Is it a tip up or down carry? My tip-up Whiplash is so dang smooth I'm afraid it's going to open up on me. One of these days I'm going to send it to Brad to have the clip relocated. I like the hole opener on this one.

Kurt

It is tip down carry with the clip located at the tip-top of the bolster for very deep pocket carry...............just the way I like it! :D :D :D

Btw, it has a 4.0" S30V blade and an overall length of 9.25"..........I'm gonna qualify this one as a MEGA folder!!

has anyone tried to contact brad lately? his website hasn't been up for a while, unless i'm mistaken that it's duncanknives.com?

I have not been able to get on his website lately either. I read second hand information that he is working on getting the site back up and running and that it should have been sometime last month. I have not heard anything else though.

Minor thread hijack:

Has anyone had any issues with tip-up Whiplashes opening in the pocket. I am on the verge of getting a Whiplash and have a few options, one of which is tip-up or tip-down carry.

Thanks any and all for information.

After holding this one in my hand I have decided it does indeed qualify for MEGA status. Even though only 4.0" in blade length the width is nearly 1.5". The picture of the blade almost looks like a modified tanto but in reality it is just a deep belly that slices and dices with the deeply hollow ground blade. Action is smoother than anything I've ever tried. Since the blade rolls on a sealed bearing I guess you should expect it. Ball detent does an outstanding job of keeping the blade closed until you thumb it open, and lockup is dead on the money. Fit and finish is top notch and I really like the green canvas micarta handles. The overall thickness is only a tad over 1/2" inch so it rides very flat in the pocket yet seems to be extremely comfortable in the hand.

The Whiplash I have was an older model and used when I received it. It's also the only Duncan knife I've ever handled. Because of the bearing system once this knife gets past the ball detent it will open up in a big hurry. The action on this knife can't really be described as smooth, it's more like frictionless! My recomendation would be to have the clip mounted for tip down.

Oh yeah AA thats the flavor!
haha, you know the deal, art. the duncan is one of only 2 MEGA folders that i own, & they both happen to be customs. the other one is a 4.25" detloff, the thing is ancient yet beautiful, i'll post a pic of it in here soon. my other folders are spydercos, & i want to get a manix because i avoid using my customs like the plague, and i would like to have a factory MEGA for rough use (well, actually any use at all) :D.
