Hello folks, I am a happy bradford guardian 3 owner (which doesn't need any service) but I'm now thinking about buying a larger one too, maybe a 4 or a 5 as a work knife...

I read on his website it has an "unconditional guarentee" against defects or issues that arise during normal use but searching here and Google I don't find ANY feedback on the warranty / service they received!

How is the warranty? It's to high a cost of a knife to do stupid stuff with but I would like to know I can count on it and use it HARD and be able to get it fixed if something does happen ya know?

Has anyone here needed to use Bradfords warranty or even heard any feedback on it? I'm not after an Esee / Becker like "no questions asked" warranty, they're not the same category of knives IMO, but I would like to know i can rely on my knife for every day at work carry and should a defect be exposed that I can count of the guy to stand behind his knives for me. Is that possible?

I recently sent my Guardian 6 in as the handle screws were so tight i was breaking spanner bits to remove them. Not only did brad himself reply to all my emails, but he replaced the screws in the handle and even shipped it back with an extra sheath. They are proud of their knives and i believe they would not hesitate to replace one if it failed.

I got a Guardian 3 back in April. I love it. I wear and use it most days. However, the leather sheath was getting loose, to the point that last weekend the knife fell out when I was in the car. For a few days, I used the leftie sheath I had also gotten with the knife. After a few incidents like almost accidentally shortening one of my shirts a few inches, I used the contact form, asking for input on how to tighten things up on the rightie sheath. Brad replied quickly, shipping a new sheath out the same day without me requesting it. I had expected instructions on how to wet form the leather, not a new sheath.

In my book, that goes into the category of great customer service.:thumbsup:

Based on my experience, I expect that they would definitely step up and fix any problems in the normal course of things.

Caveat: Of course, based on how I read the wording of the guarantee, if you run over your knife in a car, throw it out of an airplane, try to split an anvil with it, use it as a projectile out of an air cannon, or do something way outside of "normal usage" and it is obvious, I would expect a few clarifying questions before they fix it. Then again, I think that in those cases, questions would be reasonable.

I think the best warranty is the one you never have to use.

I believe Brad makes knives that fit the bill.

Never had to use Bradford warranty service myself, but I bet you'd be just fine if you did.
