I got my new Bradford Knives M390 Super Slicer today. I just completed a few simple and short tests to get an idea of its capabilities.

Here are the specs:
Blade Steel- M390
Blade Length- 4.5"
Handle Length- 4"
Overall Length- 8.5"
Stock Thicknesses- .100"
Heat Treated To- 60rc
Scales- Maroon Linen Micarta

My first sample test was to slice an apple. The M390 Super Slicer did very well. The cuts were thin and consistent. There were no "hang ups" or areas where the knife stuck. When it came to the apple peel, the knife cut the peel cleanly without tearing the peel.

My second sample test was slicing a banana. The purpose of this test was to see how clean the pieces would slice, and to see if the peel would slide and smash the piece of banana or if it would sever it cleanly. Again the M390 passed this cutting chore.

Third, was a test to cut a 2" thick foam block. I first sliced it into thin strips. The knife excelled at both push and pull cuts. Then I diced the strips into tiny cubes. It cut several cubes cleanly and precisely .

The fourth test was cardboard. I cut up a box into strips. Then proceeded to make a total of 100+ cuts. There were no issues with the cardboard test other than stopping about half way through to clean the tape adhesive off of the edge.

After that, I was still able to cut paper into slivers without any issues.

Final Overview:
I love this knife. It's simplicity makes it all the more appealing. Great feel in the hand with absolutely no hot spots or discomfort. Very light and balanced. The grind lines are symmetrical and perfect. The knife has a near mirror polish, but shows no evidence of finger prints. Food failed to stick to the blade, as it rather slid off than stuck. The maroon micarta was expertly done, with several layers and ample depth showing in the texture. The fit and finish are great. The scales are perfectly seated onto the steel, with no gaps or imperfections.

You cannot afford to not own this knife. The blade steel and micarta are top notch materials. This knife should last a very long time. I will buy more BRADFORD KNIVES in the future.

Nice wright up. Looks like a fine knife. Does it have a Kydex or leather sheath?

The knife did not come with a sheath, but for $98 it didn't matter to me. I may get a kydex one made sometime but I will leave it in the kitchen drawer for now.

The next model, my Orwell, will have a kydex sheath option as many people are having the same thoughts. I originally designed this to be more of an indoor knife, but many people said they wanted to take it outside, which should work well for skinning and stuff. The Orwell will be the same profile and grind as the Gatsby but with a slightly different tumbled finished (more stone wash than polish) and the scales will not have the same fit and finish as the Gatsby. Still using the same awesome M390!
And thank you to Mike for the amazing review, it makes me so happy to see you enjoying your knife!

Thanks,
Brad

After I posted I did a little research and found it was a kitchen knife. So no sheath makes sense. Looking forward to the Orwell.

He's making me one with Blue/Black G10 to match my collection. I'm looking forward to getting my hands on it

I'm giving serious thought to having a leather sheath made for it.
