Hi Everyone.

This might be basic but I have not done this before. Can any one point to a Guide and any tools needed to make A Braided Lanyard for Knives?

I have A CRK Custom that came with A nice Braided lanyard with a bead in the center and I would like to duplicate this for my XM-18.

I have not done this before and I think this would be A nice touch to my XM as it is DLC, and I am going to use Alum. DLC, Polished Steel, and Blue TI beads on a black Cord.

See Picture below:

Any Help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Gus

Te only tools I've seen used are paracord and hands, possibly a board with a nail in it, scissors to cut the cord, a lighter to burn the ends, and youtube videos.

Depending on what knots you are wanting to do sometimes paracord "fids" (basically a needle that is hollow opposite the tip where you insert the paracord to get it through tight knots where you couldn't force it by hand) can be helpful. I would look up what kind of knots you want to tie. Looking at the picture you shouldn't need any tools. Just like RevDevil said, "paracord and hands...(and) youtube" :) Good luck with your tying.

What you have is actually a very simple braid called a snake knot.

With a couple of feet of paracord you could master that within 20 mins. Each knot is its own thing so you tie a few cinch them up, stick on a bead few more knots, leave the tails and melt the ends to finish.

Vary nice!

I found A YouTube Video on the Snake knot.
Going to try it when i get my Paracord ;)

I tried your link but its says invalid, would like to see what you did?

Thanks!

I used to use a lighter but now I use a soldering iron with a chisel tip.

Never used scissors, I always use the knife I'm tying the lanyard for cutting.

The board with a nail is a big help for weaving, cutting on and and if you have to flatten the melted cord.

Blasphemy!!! This is a knife forum! :p

I typically tie all of my lanyard directly to the knife, by hand. I hate making lanyards that are detachable.

I just ordered a bunch ot Tie fighter pilot head and some old school storm troopers - saving a bit of cord for the new storm trooper helmet too!
