I have noticed that the plain edge Bradley Alias 2 is out of stock at most of my favorite on-line stores (New Graham, Grand Prairie, Knifeworks, etc.)

Is this because the knife is very popular and hard to keep in stock, or does the manufacturer (Benchmade) just produce these in small quantities? Or some other reason?

Thanks.

I`m guessing the answer to your question is both. When the next run is available, be sure to grab one, I know its on my list too.

I too am considering the Alias II. I also like the look of the Spyderco Sage II, which offers many of the same features and I really like the Sage's clip (I have that version on my two Calys - CF and ZDP - G10 with VG10). However, the Alias is made here in the US with the same materials (same blade steel and titanium handle) while the Sage is made in Taiwan. Both feature a frame lock and are very close in price.

Spyderco has excellent quality controls, so I do not think location of manufacture is a concern in that regard, but I am a bit puzzled by the cost comparison of these two knives given the two manufacturing locations.

Any thoughts on pricing or how the two knives compare?

Whew!
Mine is on the UPS truck as we speak.:D

You can blame me for the ‘temporarily of stock’ notice at that Virginia store.
I got the last small M.O.D. folder they had in stock too.:D:D
I also got a, well, nevermind.

I left you guys some Sebenza's.

Yes, the Alias 2 and Sage 2 seem very similar knives, same materials, similar size, but different blade shapes. All of my other Benchmades and Sydercos both have excellent quality, so for about $25 more, I am going with the Home Team.

I purchased a Sage 1 in January and just sold it to to use the proceeds to go towards the Alias. The Sage 1 (and from what I hear, the Sage 2) is an excellent knife with superb fit and finish. But, it bugged the heck out of me every time I opened the blade and had Taiwan starring at me. I am a little strange when it comes to places of manufacture. I try to go with US products 1st, then Japanese, Canadian or Mexican products. I can not explain it, but those countries do not bother me too much. Then, if all else fails, I am forced to buy elsewhere.

I think people buy them out and sell them on eBay. EBay always seems to have a good supply of Bradley Alias's. Some good prices, some not.
