How centered should the blade be when the knife is closed? This is my roommates knife and I was expecting perfect blade centering from a Bradley. Can this be fixed or caused by messing with the pivot screw? Thanks.

Yes, it can be caused by messing with the pivot screw.
In some cases (especially if it was perfect before) it can be fixed by messing with the pivot screw.

I have never seen this knife with perfect centering even when new. Am I correct in thinking that it should have perfect centering from the factory. Will Bradley fix it?
Thanks y'all

Are you joking? Unless the blade is touching the liner it dosn't really make a differance.

You shouldn't expect it to have perfect centering every time. You get what you pay for. It really doesn't matter in all practicality. It's no Sebenza. Don't worry about it.

Folders all have the potential for uncentering when closed. Even sebenzas. If it isnt scratching, it is within spec with most companies (all that I know of)

if it bothers you, you can send it to bradley;
i pretty sure the knife will be fix by the benchmade lifesharp and warranty service

Aren't liner and frame locks more prone to centering problems than other lock types?

I found like with my Kershaw Lahar (love it to bits by the way) and with some of my framelocks that the centering is an issue. But I got over it. It does not really affect the function and it is kinda aesthetic.

Perhaps it is caused by the spring pushing at the blade. When I say spring I mean the lockbar of the framelock/linerlock. Do NOT adjust tension of the spring (meaning loosening it), it is better like how it came from the factory and loosening it will weaken the lockup.

My Alias 1 is so close to perfectly centered that you couln't tell its the tiniest bit off unless you really looked hard. No an off center blade is not at all a functional issue unless its touching the liner and scratching the blade. That being said like you I am anal with this sort of thing and usually try anything I can to fix it. Try these few things before sending it back(if thats what you decide to do).
*Tighten/loosen the pivot
*Loosen the frame screws little by little and check in between. Sometimes if you loosen one of these just a hair it will make a difference.
*Take the knife apart and switch sides with the washers.
If none of these work then you're pretty much SOL unless you send it back or get a custom backspacer made. Good luck!

I wouldn't send it back, unless the blade is rubbing they will probably just send it back to you without touching it. Someone had a thread on here recently saying kershaw sent his knife back without fixing it. If it is not rubbing then it is centered to a manufacturer, even kershaw's customer service wouldn't mess with it and they have the best cs in the business.
