Looking to get a knife as a gift. I'm between the Bradley Alias II and Spyderco Sage 2 or something else, if you guys can name something good. lol

So let me know your opinions! Looking for a titanium frame lock knife 3" or less blade.

Another one to consider is the AG Russell Gentlemen's framelock but I don't think either of the other knives would be good but I prefer the Sage II. The ergonomics just work better for me.

I just bought a Sage 2 for Christmas. I can't wait. I will take it out to take pics and break it in then put it back for Christmas. I would say Sage 2

i have a sage 2 and an alias 1..... the alias is much smoother opening, other then that i love both!

Alias: no doubt in my mind! I have got Alias 1: it feels a bit big for me and now I am contemplating buying the smaller version...

I've read that the Sage 2 have very good fit and finish. I think the Sage 1 looks as good as the 2.

In that knife size I like the looks of the Benchmade 470 Emissary.

In reality all of these are very good knives, you have to pick the one that you like the looks of the best.

Either would be a great EDC.
The Alias II being less wide and more like a Small Sebenza than the Sage 2.
The Alias is also made in the USA if that kind of thing matters to you.
However the Sage 2 is an excellent knife as well with great fit and finish.
The knives that Spyderco brings out from Taichung Taiwan have the fit and finish of knives two times the price in my opinion, and several others would agree.

In all honesty it just matters which one looks best to you. Both are great beautiful knives. And while they're similar, they're vastly different.

Some others to look at would be:
A.G. Russell Acies II - Nice little knife with a ZDP-189 blade. I want one so bad lol.
A.G. Russell Gentleman's Frame Lock - VG-10 Steel, Ti Frame Lock, Half the price of the Acies II. Was made for those who can't afford the Acies.
Spyderco Techno - Small but tough, a nice little tank of a knife that can handle small and large jobs.
Benchmade 755 MPR - Another little tank of a knife.

Which one is built better, the Alias II or Sage 2?

I am kind of looking for a knife that would be very similar to the Sebenza.

Alias II ...hands down. The Sage 2 is fine for what it is, a inexpensive chinese folder. The edges are sharp (and I'm not referring to the cutting edge). The wire clip is cheap, and weak. The blade shape isn't practical for EDC. And it's too wide to sit comfortably in a pocket. I have knives close to 1k and i'll still reach for the Alias II for daiy chores. Now the downside is the company is just a front. Benchmade makes, distributes and warranties the knife. Bradley is nothing more than a mailing adress and phone number.

I have the Alias 1 NIB, untouched; selling it. I just sold Alias 2. They are both nice folders.
I've been collecting "gift-knives" for some months now for male relatives. Had Sage 2 in titanium. Sold it and got Sage 1. That Sage 1 carbon-fiber is strong and light and grippy. Excellent. Remeber, titanium can be heavy. Also selling my Spydie Lum Chinese Titanium...you guessed it, the titanium is nice and neat, but it's a heavy knife compared to carbon-fiber. Particularly for an office environment with nice slacks... Get the carbon-fiber knife, friend. I've already done the pre-testing for you.

If you want one that looks like the Sebbie, then go with the Alias series, they're great knives. If you want to compare materials, the Sage 2 is every bit the knife the Alias is and smoother/faster opening IMO. Despite what the other posted says, the clip is not weak, I have zero complaints about the edges, and if someone thinks it's too wide to fit comfortably in the pocket, they must be 6 inches wide and weigh 25 pounds. I carry it in my shirt pocket at work occasionally and forget it's even there. I sold mt Alias a long time ago because I wanted a real Sebenza. I bought one and LOVED it. I sold the Sebbie because I HAD to have a hinderer to see what the hype was about. I still have the Hinderer, the Sage 2 and am looking to purchase another Sebenza. For whatever reason, I don't miss the Alias. It's a great knife, it just wasn't for me. If you have any doubts on the Sage 2, just do a search; they're one of the most loved Spyderco's out there. I ain't selling mine.

Sage2 all the way:thumbup: I actually returned an Alias 2 for a Sage2 b/c of several problems. First problem was centering, the blade was actually rubbing the non-locking side, horrible bladeplay and it wouldn't even lock half the time. I have never had a problem with my Sage2 though :thumbup:great knife

Fist of all the Sage 2 is made in Tiawan not China (big difference). The wire clip is not cheap or weak, and it is an extemely well made knife. Someone needs to do their homework.

I'll go with the or ?? Option, I had the exact dilemma I solved it by just buying he real deal, a Sebenza, it really is quite nice :D
