Read an incredibly positive review about these knives, stating that they come really, really damn close to being as nice as a Sebenza...anyone have some good info on these bad boys?

Basically the guy who started the company disected the Sebenza and decided to make a quality equivalent US made knife. This is not a copy of the Sebenza as some would say but rather was inspired by it's quality. They start with a S30V Blade Steel, 6AL 4V Titanium Handle, and a titanium mono-lock (frame-lock). The spear point blade is their own design and one I like better than the blade on the Sebenza. I also like the softer edges and rounder butt. Best of all I like the pricing...lol.

I'm not a knife nut like a lot of these guys, but I have handled both knives side by side. The owner of the knives kept saying things like, "can't you feel the quality difference?" and "the sebbie is so much better". Honestly, I couldn't feel it. I really liked the Sebbie, a lot. But same with the Alias. For me, I like the looks of the Alias better.

That being said, I like the looks of the newer CRK better than either of them. Forget the name, but starts with a "U".

If $ is an issue, then get an Alias (I or II). Personally, I prefer the Sebenza, but that's because I'm not a big fan of Ti sided knives, so for me (& me only, of course), a classic micarta Seb is IT. I've owned an Alias I & II, along with a CGG Seb, wood inlay Seb, & of course, a micarta inlay Seb.

All in all, they're very subjective. I personally prefer the style of the classic Seb, so I prefer the Seb, but if I preferred the reg. style, I'd probably be EDCing an Alias.

Benchmade makes some nice framelocks including the Bradley Alias series, Skirmish series, and Blackwater Lum Tanto II.

The alias 1 is a better deal for the price.. But if you can afford the sebbie.. Its worth it... Just not for me
BTW.. The alias handle had more hot spots than the sebbie..

About the only negative things I've read about the Alias knives happened when people started to compare them with the Sebenza. That said, Benchmade has come a long way in knowing how to construct a proper framelock from their first attempts with the Pinnacle. I say that last statement as I had three different Pinnacles and none of them had the proper lockup when you compare them to BM's next attempt with the Skirmish.
