Bradley Folder 2 and tip down carry problems

Just got a Bradley Folder 2 and when I converted the pocket clip to tip down, it made the blade very hard to open and close. Like way harder than it ever should be, and it isn't a problem when in tip up. But I bought this knife for it's tip down option and I'm wondering if this is a common problem with the Bradley 2's or just a my knife problem.

It seems like the pocket clip screws are just a tad too long (10%-15%) and they are pushing into the washers, which makes the blade even tighter and harder to open. So when I loosen the screws to where the blade can open smoothly (how it does when in tip up mode), the pocket clip is able to move freely from side to side, which is no good.

So could anyone else see if this is the case with their Bradley 2? I've contacted Spyderco and we've talked but this past week or so, they cut off contact with me. Maybe they are busy but I just would like to get this resolved as one would think this would never be a problem when you spend $150+ on a knife.

Do you have any way of maybe grinding off a tiny portion of the screws so they are abit shorter?

I’ve had two, and did not have that problem on mine. Maybe a fluke? Or someone put the wrong screws in the clip? Both my GB2’s were perfect, actually, and I regret not still having one as it was used frequently.

Do you have a small drill chuck that you can use to hold the head of the screw? I've done it a few times to file down clip screws.

Yes I can grind them down somehow but I was hoping Spyderco could fix it as it is all still 100% brand new. I just didn't want to try it myself and then if I were to mess it up, have to pay to get to new screws.

Other than the screws they knife is about as perfect as it gets. I really love it. I measured it and the screws are 3/16's long, not including the head. When I took them out, they did look longer than usual to me (compared to other sypderco knives I have).

Like the others have said you can file down the screws (takes a few seconds per screw if you have tools). Had a similar thing with my CF Stretch and Spyderco sent me new screws with the correct length to replace the ones I shortened.

If you wish to do this yourself- I think I would try a coarse stone instead of a file, unless you have a very fine tooth file. And spread out a big light colored towel to work over so you don't lose a screw.

Call Spyderco and ask them for replacement screws. They should send them out. I’ve had to do this. Before and they were very understanding and easy to work with.
