Bradley Kimura...built by Kershaw?

Now all we need is for SA to see this so he can decide how
he wants his hat served. :D

Yes, he did in fact say he would eat his hat if this was made
by Kershaw.

So does that mean that Benchmade is hooking up with Kershaw to do this since Bradley knives are produced by Benchmade, or is it simply that Bradley is it's own company and they have Benchmade and Kershaw making different knives?

Ether way, it's cool. A Nice affordable Balisong.

I would believe that Bradley could contract out any project, to anyone they saw fit.

Thanks, Thomas--hope you have a successful show, and that I have the opportunity to meet you at a similar event in the future.

Oh I should add, that the Kimura is not a bali-song. Bali-Song is a registered trademark of BM, and trademarks are something Kai USA takes quite serious.

"Bali-Song" has been trademarked by BM? Bizarre. How about "balisong," as used in Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balisong_(knife) ?

"While the meaning of the term "balisong" is not entirely clear, a popular belief is that it is derived from the Tagalog Language words baling sungay (literally, "broken horn") as the original balisongs were made from carved animal horns. These knives are also referred to as "fan knives" or "click clacks".

"Another suggested origin of the term "balisong" is its place of origin. There is a small town in Batangas called "Balisong" where the balisong is claimed to have been invented. Balisongs are handmade and forged there by makers using techniques passed down from generation to generation.

"The use of the balisong is so popular in the Philippines that an urban legend exists about every Batangueño carrying it everywhere he goes. They are a pocket utility knife used by people of Filipino society. They have also been used to fight duels over matters of honor, although such practices have been discontinued for decades."

I suppose, though, matters involving law and lawyers have little bearing on reality, or history, sometimes.

Interesting choice of words about the Bradley Kimura on that Knife Center web page: "This is perfect for the butterfly enthusiasts who want a good product but don’t want to spend the hundreds of dollars that quality American made ones will cost." Uh, what? Doesn't that imply that this Bradley is NOT made in the US? Or is he just implying that this one is simply not "quality made?" Or maybe I'm just in a pedantic mood.

Meh.

Sorry to whittle this down to almost nothing, but there's just something I love about the word pedantic. And to stay on topic. I really like the Kimura. Boy is this sucker sharp!!! And it flips quite nicely to boot.

My application to the National Association of Pedants has been rejected 4 times! It's literally impossible to complete a form as long as that without making some error or other...even for me!

of course balisong isn't trademarked-that's too general-that's be like someone tradmarking lock-back- baliHYPHENsong is though

Words are never too general to be trademarked, given sufficiently deep pockets. I should point out that "Windows" is trade-marked. I have windows in my house, car, truck, garage, etc. but Microsoft managed to trademark the word. So it does happen. It probably wouldn't hold up in court, but typically, only the lawyers win in cases like that.

Off-topic: The reason I say the Windows trademark probably wouldn't stand up in court stems from the reason why Microsoft "settled" with Lindows.com after taking Lindows to court for trademark infringement ("settled" in quotes because Microsoft ended up paying THEM, Lindows! :) ). Anyway, the reason MS settled was because the question of whether the word "Windows" was generic was going to go to jury, and MS faced the very real possibility of losing that trademark. JUST GOT MINE!

It's all silver coated, as opposed to the polished prototype. Very sturdy, very little blade play if i can even say it has any, and very quiet! pivots can be adjusted and latch is tight and can be switched from one side to the other. grippy and smooth in the hands, looks quite sleek with rounded handles the way i like it.

time to gain some skills...

will get some pics tonight
