I was browsing through Kickstarter today and came across one I found particularly interesting.

It's a roll of moldable plastic that has high tensile strength and abrasion resistance.

My immediate thought was to have this in a first aid kit as an emergency splint. Using it for handle wraps is another idea, you can see a Buck wrapped with it on their page.

I have a fair amount of skepticism, though. How many times can it be heated and remolded before it begins to deteriorate? Is there a threshold of heat to where it begins to break down? (Holding an open flame to it, for example. I saw he had a lighter to it in the video, but it's still concerning.) Molding at 140 degrees F is a fairly low point. Does it begin to lose some of it's strength in the upper 80's-90's temperature range?

With these doubts I have, I'm still going to back it and test it out. I thought you all might be interested in seeing it too, given it's potential bushcraft and general use.

Thoughts?

Looks cool to me. The only thing I wonder about is it says it is "re-doable" simply by reheating. If it bonds to itself when heated, I'm doubting it is going to come apart well- at least not well enough to re-use.

I just backed it the other day. If its half as good as they claim there will still be tons of uses for it. And if its as good as the claims could be the new duck tape.
