I had the great chance to spend a whole afternoon with BRAM at MILIPOL show here in Paris.
My thumb is still red, the side of my neck is full of scratchings, I have some small bruises on my chest, and really big ones on my arm and my knee.
You can imagine I spent a really good afternoon.
BRAM was demonstrating on me, I was suffering and translating BRAM's commentaries. I explained to many people the whole gunting system.
BRAM told me I am now a gunting cult member.
I am really proud of it!!!
By the way, I had the chance to play with the CRIMPT prototype , the baby gunting prototype (really great), and a lot of fixed blade gunting.
I want to thank BRAM for all the things I learned this day. He is a really great man, and made a perfect tool.

It was the first prototype, still in plastic.
It is small enough to almost disapear in my hand, wharnclif blade with a horn.
It will be a folding kerambit.
BRAM is still working on the project. I really hope it will come to an end.

Dear FREDERIC K

I have been treated to the same pleasure during the Seminar held in Israel a while ago - and for a whole Day.

While having dinner at my house on Friday night, I asked Sifu Bram if many people are willing to take that kind of $hit?

Bram: "well, people pay for the seminar - so they are entitled to a mild amount of pain..."

I, still hurting all over: "define "Mild"

Bram: "well, you didn't pee in your pants, you didn't faint - that’s mild.

I: " have people done that? "

Bram: "oh yes - both.."

There you have it...

You are now officially gunted...:D

Now you have to talk to Thomas- the European representative of CSSD - now there's a bruised arm if you ever saw one..

Blilious,
Situation has gone worse since my last post. Two days after my "training" with BRAM, I started suffering from my shoulder. I decided to see a doctor when violent pain crises started to wake me up at night. I am now at home for at least a week, waiting to recover, I suffer from a muscle wound (sorry my english is too limited to explain further), but I still think I had a really nice day with BRAM.
I think it is part of the "initiation"!!!

Thanks Frederic,

I was wondering if it was a low profile "gentleman's" gunting, or a high-profile mini gunting of similar concept. I assume this also has a mid-clip fo quick access.

How was the handle length proportionate to the blade? Did it have a lot of extra length for pressure point manipulations?

Blade grind? (hollow, flat, sabre?)

The prototype in plastic had no clip on it. I cannot tell anything about it.
About blade / handle ratio. The prototype had a handle the same length as the blade but I think production versions will have a slightly loger handle to permit pressure points, but I am not totally sure about it.
The plastic blade was chisel grind.
I am sorry, I cannot help a lot, but again, it was the really first prototype in plastic I manipulated.

Dear FREDERIC K!

Sound like you got it bad - make sure you email Bram and tell him about it - it is highly unusual to get hurt like that - Bram is very careful not to hurt his students (not all masters are that careful)

I suspect you torn a part of your muscle. Painful - but usually heals in a few weeks.

This could be due to being in "not so good" shape physically??

get better soon!

Having been Bram's Dummy four times, I can tell you the pain is good. One, it eventually goes away. Two, the close, direct exposure to what he is doing, is invaluable, it was made me a better teacher of the Gunting.

Bram, the arms are healed, let's go again.

Al

I confirm that BRAM is really carefull...
...but, we demonstrated the whole afternoon and I attended a self defense seminar three days before. We spent two days hurting each others, using mainly KALI and PENCHAK SILAT. My body was surely a little tired after that and then I played with BRAM.
