I just returned from the seminar yesterday. It was the first time I'd
met Bram Frank and I was very impressed by everything about the day.
After a short recovery period my training partner and I were up until
11pm practising after we got home. We learned some excellent Filipino
stick locks and takedowns, and worked a lot with the Gunting. I was very very impressed by that also. It's so much more than a knife. I'm
planning to get a set. Also saw Rob Simonich's military fixed blade
versions which were something else.

I found the approach and techniques remarkable in their simplicity and
devastating effectiveness - as a Wing Chun instructor these are elements I value highly. I would definitely recommend anyone seeking first class self defence instruction check out Bram Frank and his instructor team.

Thanks again for a great day!

Kallisti.

Wouldn't the Gunting be illegal to carry in London?

It appears that the Gunting would be illegal, the Drone and CRMIPT would be legal. Note that Bram's comments center on the Drone.

Thank you Scorpio for your kind words. What a fantastic week, one that I’ll remember a long time. Good friends, good food and good training. What more could I ask for? Congratulations to you and Yuval on your promotions, well deserved.

A big thank you to Bram for all the knowledge and understanding that u shared with us. It is said the mark of a good teacher is one that enables the students to find the knowledge for themselves and leaves them with the desire to seek more. You’ve hit the nail on the head.

Carlos The drone is illegal to carry on the street in the UK, as any thing carried for the purpose of self defence is. If the police wanted to follow the letter of the law, just about anything is an offensive weapon. If you put keys through your finger with the intention to protect yourself. The keys then become an offensive weapon. If you use a rolled up newspaper to strike some one with, then paper becomes an offensive weapon. As this illustrates it is about intent of purpose rather than the object. Not that I agree with any of it and think the law here in this respect is an a$$. The law says you may only use reasonable /minimum force but you’re prohibited from carrying any tools to do this.

I believe the Gunting is the coolest tool available and can be as simple or as technical in its use as you wish to make it.

I would like to wish everyone safe and happy holidays.

Steve

Gents, I'm a bit slow off the mark and forgot to check my old pal bladeforums for a while. Thanks for all the nice comments regarding our hosted seminar. I am planning to bring Bram over within the next few months (Bram i'll give you a shout asap). In the short term get yourself over to http://www.cssdsc.co.uk for a view of how we train when the big guy isnt around. Your all welcome to come and play Guntings as long as they are red or alu!.

Hope to see some of the posters on the site!
