Brand new Buck 110, worth sending it in?

Just got a new Buck Lock-back 110 in the mail.

There is a small fault under one of the pins, looks like a chip in the wood BEFORE the lacquer was applied, which means factory issue.

Was wondering if it was worth sending in since its directly under a pin and half of the underside of that pin is exposed.

I like the knife... If it wasn't directly under a pin I wouldn't bother sending it in.

If you are unhappy with the knife send it in. Buck will repair or replace the knife under their lifetime warranty.

That's one I would probably send back to Buck to repair. It should not have gotten past their inspections.

Send it in. You may have to be without it for a week but in the end you will be glad you sent it back.

Yes, send it in; unless you bought it used, there really is no excuse for a flaw that obvious.

Nope, bought it brand new off Amazon. Sold by Amazon (not a reseller), so I assume they got it right from Buck. It was brand new in the box.

Ill send it in, see what comes back.

I wouldn't even send it in to Buck, have Amazon replace it for free. They have free returns when there is a defect. Save the shipping and have them replace it.

This.

So I got the replacement from Amazon today...

Im keeping the one with the defect.

The 'replacement' isn't a knife Id keep. The blade rubs because its too off center and the sharpening grind toward the tip I think was done right before lunch, its uneven and bites into the rest of the blade.

Ill just 'deal with it' on the imperfection with the scales. The original is the superior knife.

That's disappointing. I would post this in the Buck s/f as well. Chuck Buck as well as other employees are on, and I'm sure they would like to hear of the issues you are having. Plus, I have not doubt they will take care of you, and make sure you are happy.

Personally both of those knives would drive me nuts, but I'm a little OCD about things. If you aren't happy with it, that is reason enough to get it taken care of. Even though the chip doesn't affect usage, it will still be a constant reminder every time you use it...

Yea, Im prob being OCD as well. When I buy things its to use them and keep them pretty much forever... which is why I only buy high quality stuff. Im prob just being overly picky... The knife Im keeping is a GOOD knife, its just that scale chip right under a pin that bothers me. If it wasnt under a pin I wouldnt even say anything about it.

The 'replacement' amazon sent me... man, that thing is rough. No way would I keep that one.

Im not sure the rules on cross posting.

Even if it is a user, it will still probably always bother you. I drives me nuts constantly reading about how good a companies customer service is, because in my little mind, it would be easier to do it right the first time, and never need a service department. I'm enough of a realist to know that's not how things work, no matter what it is, or who made it though...
So in Bucks defense, they do have a great CS department, and they are also one company that truly cares about their customers, as well as selling a quality product.

If you wanted to post this in the Buck s/f, you could always just close this one, and then open one up in Bucks s/f. Or you could ask a Mod to move this one for you.
