SOLD!!
Well, this baby has been posted for two hours and nobody has snagged it, so obviously you guys need a little sweet-talking.
This knife was designed by Darryl Ralph, one of the premier designers of high-end customs. Darryl's designs have a sculpturesque beauty, and the CUDA MAXX is no exception. It's a handsome hunk of knife.
No doubt about it, this sucker is a monster of a folder. Whoever heard of a folder with a 5 1/2 inch blade? Almost an oxymoron. But ... give a light touch to the spur atop the blade to disengage it from the handle and with a light wrist flick the blade opens and locks into place smooth as glass with a beautiful, almost musical click.
Then an attacker is facing a weapon designed to intimidate by sheer dint of its size. And make no mistake: this is one scary-looking knife to be on the wrong end of. The fact that it's a folder makes it even scarier, because it has that element of surprise. You just don't expect something that comes with a pocket clip to be large and stable enough to gut a full-grown crocodile.
And, let's face it, this is not a knife for guys who practice knife fighting every day. Experts don't need a great big knife. They like to work in close. This is a knife for people who, when they get messed with, don't fight fair. They fight to win by virtue of overpowering force. This sucker is so big you don't have to get up close and personal with an opponent to make a statement. The strike zone of this mother is a good three or four feet out. It's enough to make even a hard-nosed bad guy wonder whether he might have picked the wrong guy to mess with. That's why the knife was designed to be this big--and it does that job.
On top of that, the fit and finish of this knife are superb. Hold it in your hand and the quality radiates from your fingers through your wrist and up your arm. It feels like a high-end knife for a bargain price. There is no knife, regardless of price, with Darryl Ralph's name on it that isn't top quality.
Now, here's the regular spiel:
This is, quite simply, one of the biggest folders ever made, and it's a beaut. It isn't mint--it's brand spanking new. Comes with pouch, box, papers, the whole nine yards.
Here's what the manufacturer, Camillus, says about it:
CUDA MAXX 5.5
For 2002, Camillus Cutlery brings another of Darryl Ralph's award-winning designs to the production arena, the CUDA MAXX 5.5.
Sporting a 5.5 inch Crucible AIRDI-150 D-2 semi-stainless steel blade, the CUDA MAXX 5.5 is one of the largest production folding knives ever developed. The massive high-polished Bowie blade surrounded by colored anodized Titanium is an impressive package that works as good as it looks.
The CUDA MAXX 5.5 is built to last. The tough but lightweight 6AL4V Titanium handle slabs also serve as the integral frame lock. Prototypes of this model have been rigorously tested over one thousand inch-pounds of lock strength, quite possibly the strongest in the industry.
The CUDA MAXX 5.5 is the biggest, baddest knife on the market today. The design truly offers fixed-blade performance in a production folding knife.
