Brand New In the Box Lionsteel Molletta with wrench tool. One of the most solid folding knives in existence! It has a 3.7" of particularly broad blade made of D2 tool steel in Black Oxide finish, hardened to 60-61 HRc. The blade primary bevel grind goes almost all the way to the spine, making it almost flat ground. In essence, it is a very high saber ground profile which combines the blade strength of the saber grind with the slicing capabilities of a flat grind. The blade has a large belly which makes ideal for utility tasks. It can also serve as an excellent hunting folder as it will dress game with the best. A modest thumb ramp with jimping gives extra control. There are also dual thumb studs for easy right or, left hand operation.
The black frame is made of a single piece of aluminum which is 3D machined and anodized. The knife has an excellent feeling in the hand and it is extremely solid! The integral bar lock has a reinforced hardened steel replaceable section which offers an exceptionally strong lock. This steel section is replaceable after many years of use, bringing the lock back into its original locking position. Although already very solid, the lock has been augmented with Lionsteel’s proprietary RotoBlock safety. The RotoBlock has dual purpose. First of all it prevents over extending the locking arm while disengaging the lock. Second it can be turned by using the provided wrench tool, cinching down on the locking arm, preventing failure. This in total creates one of the safest locking mechanisms ever!
The knife has a removable black titanium clip. It can be mounted on the right or the left side or, it can be removed altogether by means of the provided wrench tool. The clip is relatively small but it does a good job by holding the knife in place discretely. It is fastened to the pommel by a hardened pointed bolt that doubles as a glass breaker or, a skull crasher. Furthermore, there is a lanyard hole.
In my opinion this knife epitomizes top notch engineering with tops notch aesthetics. No wonder why it was awarded the coveted “Most Innovative Imported Design” at the 2010 Blade Show in Atlanta.
