Today at the Dutch Knife Exhibition I scored a Manix I in foliage green. I've been looking for a Manix II in XHP, but this thing dwarfs it. I'm still gonna get the II, but I am really stoked about this knife, for Spyderco standards it's a brute, plain and simple. Wicked blade, 4-point clip carry, beautiful foliage green G-10 scales, MASSIVE back lock, it feels perfect in hand. Best Spyderco for me so far.

Here some pics compared to the Tenacious that arrived yesterday.

I think the blade is a full mm thicker too. Man what a nice knife!

The old Manix is one of high points of the former Spyderco lineup. I can't think of a more tank-like model, but its also a slicer. I have two, plus a mini. Hated to see that one leave the lineup.

Nice score! I always wanted one C95 but I think that FG is a sprint run, and that one's even better. @powernoodle, how does the manix compare to the chinook in build?

I EDC a chinook because I was thinking it was the next best thing to the manix. thanks. I wonder if anybody has both and would be kind enough to give a comparison. Chinook 3 is quite awesome too and if the manix is as awesome and with that blade shape....

I just checked the specs, and the old Manix has almost a full centimeter longer blade, and it's a full milimeter thicker than the Manix II. This one is hard to beat...
I also just won an auction on the Manix II XHP, I have a Gayle Bradley on the way...
Now all Sal needs to do is make a Military with the clip at the proper end and I am in Spyderco heaven. :D

I have a old Manix I bought when they were still available. I love it and carry it often.

well caught - seems to be a little rash of them popping up in the second hand market - I sold my large and mini cause I thought them too heavy - I'll probably grab either one if I see one now though :)

Yeah, it's big and beefy but I like 'm like that.
Mine's new by the way. :D And so sharp it cuts tissue paper.

I was able to pick up the FG Manix through a retail store during their offering. Hands down my favorite folding blade and my EDC since the day it came out of the box.

Good score and congrats on being one of the lucky ones.

The old Manix and Chinook 3 have the exact same construction.
I own both and I agree, they're awesome!

Nice score, what a nice knife. Thanks for sharing!
I have a Manix2 and absolutely LOVE it......and like Idaho it has been my EDC since it came out of the box!

I finally was able to get my hands on an original too. It's a beast of a knife, but I really like it. The ergonomics are perfect. The Manix 2s are great as well. Easily my favorite Spyderco so far.

the old manix was my first good knife..that's where my forum name came from.
been carrying it EDC for about 6-7 years now. i also have a new blue manix..still like old style better.

i have the blk in the older style...nice look in foliage green..may have to snag one if i see it:thumbup:

In Holland this version costs the same as a Military in G-10. To tell you the truth, for the same money, I'd choose this one, no contest.
I don't know what's special about this one other than the color (compared to the C95), but on a Dutch forum I was told there were only 600 made of these.
Is there anything else I should know about? :D

Hhhmm it's at $170 and shipping to the Philippines is a little more than $30. I'll wait awhile but thanks.

Love the Manix. I don't think I'll ever part with mine, even if it is rarely carried (darn thing ate the pockets out of three pairs of jeans. Beast of a knife. . .)
