Brand new Ontario Rat-3 dull edge

I wanted a smaller fixed blade knife in my EDC rotation and ended up getting a Ontario Rat-3 (model 8630 Brown micarta scales). Overall I like the knife and the sheath but I was so disappointed in the factory edge. It was the dullest I've come across from all the years I've been collecting. I'm surprised that it left the factory like that. I spent about an hour putting a decent edge on it with my Edgepro sharpener and now I am happier with the knife. But a new owner shouldn't have to go through sharpening a brand new knife? This is a first for me in any case.

Not unusual these days at all. Liability and all. Sad but true.

That's disappointing to find out that manufacturers are doing that.

Same here on a new Ontario Rat 5. Thought about sending it back just on principle.
