Hey guys, just got done with my new Becker BK2. I used Kleen Strip to take the crud off and straight apple cider vinegar from safeway for a patina, I boiled the vinegar 2 times. What I did was I boiled the vinegar then dropped the blade in and let it sit for 20 minutes, Then I took the knife out boiled the vinegar again and repeated with 20 more minutes. I then neutralized with baking soda and proceeded to take out my handy dandy phone and take these photos.

The last picture is an after shot with my other new knife.

Please let me know if I made any mistakes. Also I would like it if I could get a darker patina but have no idea how, any ideas?

Thanks in advance for taking the time to look over my thread and for the great responses.

Looks great man, I don't see any mistakes at all. Welcome to the Becker forum and BFC in general, from a fellow Californian.

What part of Cali if you don't mind me asking? SoCal myself.

Thank you TheKnife. My next project is to hopefully convex the blade and then perhaps either make some new scales or mod the ones I have. Will keep everyone updated on my progress.

It looks great, I have not put a patina on one but the current color looks pretty similar to some old knives I have with a natural patina.

Looks to be a fine job to me.......Welcome to the Becker forum.......I hope your Becker blade gives you good service.....The two is a great "all purpose " knife and should do pretty much anything you ask of it.......The denizens of this place looooove to see pics of well used knives and I hope to see some from you and hope you have a great time taking them......

Thanks for buying one of my knives.....

To get a really dark patina, clean your becker really well and wear gloves to avoid any contaminants from your hands and put a glass of apple cider vinegar in the microwave until its boiling. Dip the knife blade first into the boiling glass about 10 seconds in and 2 seconds out for about 2 minutes straight. Its necessary to dip it in and out to make sure oxygen gets onto the blade. This made my becker's blade pitch black but the black wont stay, it flakes off. You can wipe this coating off with high grit sandpaper like 1500+ and you will have a decent uniform finish.

Thank you, I am amazed with this knife and am extremely glad I purchased it. I do plan on using it soon, and will upload the pics of that after. Thank you for such an amazing knife and for taking the time to look at my pictures of your knife.
