The Civilian is one of the coolest knives ever designed. There's nothing else like it. It was invented by Spyderco for DEA agents who had no martial arts training who needed the ultimate defensive weapon when busting drug operations where all the perpertrators were apt to be armed and dangerous. It opens with a wrist flick and looks like a velociraptor claw. Because this knife has such a specialized blade, it's designed for just one thing: not for cut cord or cardboard, and not to stab, but to slash. And there has never been a slasher like this. It's designed to sever a brachial or femoral artery, or a jugular vein, or put out an eye. That's why it was initially available only to law enforcement personnel.

Civilian (the meanest, wickedest, most evil knife of them all--G-10 scales, comes with pouch and papers, including the tag saying only law enforcement personnel can buy it) SOLD

The Dodo is the classiest utility knife ever designed. It's basically a high-class box cutter, although the unique blade geometry--which looks just like a dodo's beak--puts it head and shoulders above the cheap cutters sold in your local hardware store. Inner city thugs use box cutters as weapons to deadly effect. The dodo, especially in its super-sharp serrated version, the trademark Spyderco style, is far deadlier. And because the blade is under two inches long, it's legal to carry in every state.

Dodo (serrated blade, blue handle) ... $75

Karambits, which were invented centuries ago in Indonesia, are perhaps the hottest category of knife on the market. Martial artist and knife designer Jay Tarini introduced them to the American market a few years ago. Ernest Emerson then produced a model that has proved so popular he now offers four different karambit designs. But no one has produced a karamit as gorgeous as Spyderco's model. All stainless steel and laser-cut in Seki City Japan, its sculpturesque beauty almost belies its deadly efficiency as a weapon of self-defense. This is basically a two-inch long stainless steel claw designed to be held in a forward or reverse grip (or swiftly switch between them), and the finger hole allows you to momentarily extend the knife for a sudden strike. The only problem with this knife is that it's so beautiful you almost hate to use it. Be this as it may, it's designed to be used.

Karambit (all stainless steel, including handle, gorgeous) DEAL PENDING

J. D. Smith is a noted designer of high-end custom knives. His design for Spyderco is especially elegant: long, thin, and graceful as a swan, and as deadly as a poisonous snake, with (in this version) a super-sharp blade that's serrated with patented Spyderco serrations (best in the industry) along its entire length. This lean, smooth-opening folder is scary-looking because it looks just like what it is: a knife that's designed to do just one thing--stab or slash human flesh.

J.D. Smith (serrated blade, similar to Military, nicer--I think)(Please note: picture of JD Smith is with a plain blade--this knife has a serrated blade) ... $80

Shabaria ... SOLD

Peter Herbst (aluminum handle) SOLD

Dear Bladeaholic,

Something fishy is going on. I've sent you two emails. Both came bouncing back as being undeliverable. I tried to send you a private message via Bladeforum. But Bladeforum tells me you've elected not to be contacted that way. I'm mystified. I communicate with a large number of Bladeforum members either via email or private messaging on a daily basis, and I've experienced no problem previously. Nor have I ever had an email bounced back as being undeliverable if the email address was legitimate. I'd say the ball was in your court in terms of figuring out a way to communicate.
