I have no working knowledge of knives .. yet!

I just got a folder from my Dad and I have no clue what it is. Where can I ID it? I'm just curious.

Thanks! :)

Welcome to Bladeforums! :)

Pictures are the best place to start. One of the whole knife, open. A close-up of any stamping or writing on the blade.

Welcome to the forum. As stated before pictures help and the best place to post a pic and/or description would be on the The Bernard Levine Knife Collecting and Identification Forum listed under rhe General tab on the top of the page. Good luck.

Sorry for the lengthy delay, guys ...

My camera wouldn't work so I could upload the pics! Then I had 2 kid's birthdays, Christmas .. things got too busy.

Now - these are kinda big .. If I need to change something, PLEASE let me know, OK? :)

OK, here we go:

Thanks for your input!

Is there anything at all written on the reverse side of the tang? The number is the only marking at all?

If that's the case, then I suspect your knife is an inexpensive import from Pakistan or China. Worth about $3 if new, worth $0 if used.

By any chance does it appear that something used to be marked on the blade? I wonder if the knife is a factory second that's had the maker's mark removed? Or else someone has removed the "Pakistan" or "China" stamp?

In the future you should consider using a scanner to take images of your knives. With the scanner you can zoom in on features and markings, and you don't have to worry about learning any pesky photography skills (like lighting or focus).

Best Wishes,
-Bob

Thanks for your help, Bob.

No, no other markings or evidence that anything was removed. I guess it's a cheapie!

I just picked up a nearly new Spyderco Native for $20 though, so I won't feel guilty keeping this one for a rainy day ...

Thanks again!

Please have someone teach you how to REDUCE the size of these pics...they are immensely large.

You can download a resizing program from http://www.irfanview.com/

After openning the picture in the program:

1. pull down the Image tab

2. select the Resize/Resample option

3. pick the desired new size

great tool for making internet friendly images and avatars
