Branson Hammer-In Demo

This is the knife Iposted last week that was in my demo at the Branson Hammer-In.
I used it to demonstrate the virtues of shaping handle material with specialty files only. (I do honestly believe I got more than a few converts!)
At this stage, I brought it home and did VERY little clean-up on it today after using just files. I also did a little shaping of the twisted wrought iron fittings.
Truly nothing uglier than a knife "in-progress"!

Files are awesome!
When I build trails, the second best tool to a big knife is a rake, at least for me.
Funny how files and rakes are so related and that building trails and building knives can have so much in common. At least for me.

Ray, that's some stabilized Redwood burl.
I hope everybody realizes that it has a long way to go yet.

I hated to miss your demo Sunday, Karl, but enjoyed the visit we had Saturday. You are very comfortable with your techniques and the results prove just that. Look forward to seeing the finished piece.

That handle right now is at 220.
Needs to go up to 1500 and polish.
All the fittings need to be taken to 2000 and etched.
They're wrought iron.
