I have used alot of balisongs over the years and I find nothing
swings like solid brass .So why dont more companys produce balisongs with solid brass skelelton handles ? If you want a good brass knife you have to go with a old taylor or parker

Yeah, you are right. The only complaint I have with brass is that after awhile the tang pin digs too deep into the back of the handles and the knife will no longer lockup in the open position. One thing that I am noticing is that the FHMs are not as prone to latch problems. In my limited experience, they tend to lock up both closed and open. The better quality ones (thicker brass) also offer a nice compromise weightwise.

Never had any problems with my old C.I. 1200..no lock-ups at all.The only thing I've had to do to it was replace the tang pin, which fell out one day..don't know why.

I'd love a good balisong with solid brass handles.
I made a set of brass handles for an old balisong blade many years ago, and they are among the handles that move the best, good solid feeling.

I think that BM should get their act together and start producing the full custom line of balisongs again

How do you like this?

It has a 3.5"blade with pivot pins with ball bearings. Ultra smooth after thousands of abuse. It was made by Japanese custom knife maker Mr. Nemoto.

That's a beauty, WrongFriend! The blade grind is exquisite!!!! This is an early Bali-Song USA WeeHawk with all the brass you'd ever want!

Great pix. Brass handle with steel pin makes such a beauty! Only problem is that the tang pin digs into handles more rapidly than steel handles.

Handle weight are about the same. You may feel so when you have experienced with a BM42.

hey those are some nice brass knives, Does anyone make brass handles for a jaguar ?

TJ

I forget - there was a time when there were a lot of guys in the market makign custom handles for jag blades.. You can find ChuckG when he has recovered from his surgery as he does that quite well otherwise, find someone who will do it for you - most of which do it only as a famour since they do it as a hobby.

The thing is when you buy a custom butterfly knife do you really wana use it ? If I break a jaguar its not a big deal if you break a manila folder or a custom your out some money and you cant replace it ,I have not found a balisong I cant break yet !

TJ

For the amount of money you spend to get "custom" handles on your jaguar, you could have bought a manila folder or a BM 42.

Yes but a benchmade 42 is not made in brass and manila folders only had one all brass model and are collectors knives not a good pratice knife to swing around
