Can anyone tell me where to buy those brass post snaps that you see on older military sheaths? It is actually just a post that the leather snaps on to and holds. Thanks

Tandy Leather has them; not sure if they're brass, or just plated to look that way. It's called a "button stud" - they've got ones that have a screw back, and a rivet-on back.

They're also called Sam Browne studs or buttons.

"Lift the Dot" snaps use a center post and are the most similar to the old WW2 military snaps. Not to be confused with "pull the dot" which are essentually directional durable dots.

I have handled a lot of those old snaps and they are amazingly durable for their age. The modern version is expensive, but if your looking for authenticity then its the way to go.

You can view all three types here...
