brasso for taking rust off knives?

There is little spots of rust on the blade of my bm AFCK. All that is handy right now is brasso. Will brasso get the rust off safely, as in not destroying my knife?
The blade material is ATS-34.

Brasso will work fine. Be carefull around the butterfly as the brasso will polish it off. Also, be sure to clean out the pivot area afterwards, in case you got any brasso in there.
 
Brasso works fine. You might also wanna check out "Flitz". It's a cleaner/polish. I like that a bit better than Brasso.
