Good Day,

I thought that you all would want to know this...

A friend of mine helped a lady out of her car, after an accident, with the help of his GB Scandinavian Forest Axe. As some might imagine, this either broke the axe, or the subsequent use of the damaged axe led to it's cracking.

And he was prepared to throw it away.

But, I had a sense, that Gransfors Bruks would replace the item, as it was still under warranty.

So, I sent it back for him, and while it took some time... just a week ago, he received his brand new axe.

So, Bravo to Gransfors Bruks!

Marion

PS - Could what he did be construed or interpreted as abuse? Sure, someone could take that position. But, Gransfors Bruks has strengthened their reputation with my friend (owner of 2 GBs), my brother (owner of 3 GBs), and myself (owner of 2 GBs). A win for GB. M

I think it could definitely be construed as abuse. At least presuming that he hacked into the car with the axe and wasn't simply clearing vegetation around the wrecked vehicle.

What I would have done, is sent it back with a note explaining the situation, and asking for warranty repair if possible, or offering to pay for a new one if it's not salvageable. That way they get the option on whether or not they want to replace the axe (which I'm reasonably sure they would have).

Essentially, while what your friend did was commendable, it was his choice and GB should not unknowingly lose out because of it. It sucks when something bad happens when you're only trying to do something nice, but again, it's your choice. (I once went to pick up a friend from the airport at night, and when I pulled into the left lane I pulled straight into a blown out tire. It completely ruined my left front bumper, which had come from the shop a month before...)

I'm not passing judgment, just tell you what I would have done. What's right to me isn't always right to other people and vice versa.

Well done to GB and your friend!

Its good that your friend acted as he did, and its good that GB acted as they did.

Thanks for sharing this.

This kind of customer service is what builds a great reputation. It's a win, win situation.
