when i try brazing brass on a blade for a fixed guard i always get
small pin holes or small bubbles in the newly brazed area, any ideas
on avoiding this condtion??? thanks

First guess would be some kind of impurities. YOu cleaning well, and using flux?( don'ot laugh if I got that wrong, for some reason can't remember if you use flux when brazing)

The most common cause for bubbles in solder or brazing brass is overheating. Too much heat and the molten metal will actually boil and that's what causes the bubbles. Learn to feather the guard and tang once the solder or brazing brass starts to flow. Just back off a bit with the flame once the solder or brass starts to flow.
