Some of you know I like to tinker with knives and what has the potential to be a knife. I haven't turned out my first real knife yet but I plan on doing so this winter while I'm trapped indoors.
Getting on with it...
A friend/coworker/fellow BF member was, to say the least, smitten with the Breacher bar from CountyComm. While messing around in the shop we noticed that we had a couple extra spanner wrenches in the tool box that were about the size needed to make our own breachers.
They had two studs welded in 'em at one end that were easily punched out and cleaned up. I brought them home and went at it with the belt grinder. They aren't as hard as I'd like them to be but proved rigid enough to use as prybars. Almost pulled the bench over while trying to bend one in a vise.
They measure 3/16" thick and 1 1/8" X 7 3/4".
Both are chisel ground. I did one left-handed for myself and one right for him (Ron).
I tried battoning one through a piece of scrap wood and it passed with flying colors.
Ron spent some time in the Atlanta area years ago and became a Bulldog fan. Because of that, I wrapped these in Red and dubbed them the Bulldog Breachers
.
Haven't a clue what we'll use 'em for but they were fun to make none the less.
Thanks for looking,
Chris
