Hello,

I was talking to a friend about rust and he told me about the "break free" products like clp and collector, I look for it in the internet and found that in a site, and I can´t resist and ask for a bottle to try, they said that clp is excelent but that the collector product could let the sword protected by till five years (they mentioned that in some tests they let iron nails under the water by 29 hours and it not get even one rust point), and that it not wash out ??? I really think that it`s only an announcement, and every time I use it I´ll apply more, but anyway I think it seems reliable, since in some sites I saw that people liked these products; so I would like to know if anyone used that kind of stuff before, and if we can believe in that test or it´s only deceiving propaganda.

Greetings!!!:D

I have not heard of these products. I use silicon spay lubricant on my blades. Better that most oils, odorless. Need to reapply each month.

You might try clear coat sprays or laminates, like clear acrylic. You probably get more humidity that I do here in the North.

Hasta,

Some makers swear by Breakfree CLP. Lasts a long time, doesn't gunk up, good protection.

I personally swear by whatever's handy. If all I have is gun oil handy, I'll use that. If I can get a few more small glass bottles, I'll probably mix up some choji and maybe some other oils, because that is what I prefer most, even if I don't use it on a blade (I like pretty smells). Some people use Tuf-Cloth and other simple application methods, and it works fine. I've heard of "solid" coatings used, but I guess I don't care much for that concept. Probably just me though...

I have used Break Free CLP for many years in my guns. It is an excellent lubricant for guns. I assume it would work well for knives. It is a very clean, thin, non-gunky type of teflon oil. Good stuff.
