I'm thinking of using Break Free Powder Blast to clean the pivot area of my SOG Trident folding knife. Sounds like powerful stuff. I'm concerned about damaging the Trident, especially the GRN handles. Has anybody done this? Thank you

What is going on that you need to clean the folder? I have taken apart my share of knives for cleaning, including my Flash II. If you are good with tools and small parts, not much to it. Another option would be to send it in to SOG and have them clean it if necessary....

Thank you for your response. I have 2 Trident folders and did see debris in both pivot areas. So I'd like to start a maintenance program for my knives like I do for my guns. Saw a U-Tube showing how clean a folder pivot area was after spraying it with Powder Blast (I would put gun oil on it after that.) But Powder Blast warns about damage to plastic and rubber. Amazon reviews talk about certain things melting which tells me it Power Blast is strong stuff. Just weighing risk/reward. Hoped somebody could tell me their experience with using Break Free Powder Blast on a SOG folder with GRN (Glass Reinforced Nylon) handle. Thanks, again

Another thing to consider is if it uses a nylon washer. I believe my flash had one nylon and one phosphor bronze. It would suck if the nylon one melted. I would either take it apart if it was noticeably gritty. If not then just a couple drops of your favorite lube. I use tuff glide.

So, I tried using the Break Free Powder blast on one of my Trident folders and it worked (at least for the short term.) Sprayed it at a couple different angles into the pivot area, waited a few minutes, and the pivot area was bone dry like the youtube video below. So dry that it was hard to move the blade. But once I sprayed some CLP into the pivot area, the blade moved as well or better than before the cleaning. I put a finishing touch of FP-10 gun oil which probably wasn't really necessary. The experiment worked well enough I repeated it on my 2nd Trident folder. I'll post results again after the next cleaning.
