Break in ? While it was sitting in "The Knife Safe" ?

That's right. I am talking about my Ouroboros. It is a cool knife and I like it a lot; always have since I first saw it. It is a good usable EDC.
But
The action was never quite there. Even after some pivot adjustment and lube. I have never taken it apart / still has the loctite or what ever from the factory.
In fact I finally developed a new way for myself to one hand close it :
Hold the knife horizontally so the maximum weight of that short blade had the best leverage on the pivot.
As the blade started to move downward (I wouldn't call it drop downward) I would roll my wrist over so the full weight of the blade helped to close it all the way. As opposed to some of my other compression locks which DROP with enough momentum to just swing up and closed all the way with no wrist.

So . . . anyway . . . while I carried the knife it was like this.
I put it in my "Knife Safe" (a few drawers and cookie sheets stacked up   :) ).
For months now it has gotten no use; only jiggled around on the sheets while I dug out an EDC for the day and occasionally pawed and opened just to admire it but no actual fidgeting or use.

Last night I busssed it out and put it in my pocket and carried it around the house and this morning I was again pawing it and admiring it and fidgeting with it and . . .
and . . .
the dambed hesitation in the pivot has disappeared and it closes just as I would like :
hold horizontal and press the lock and it actually DROPS and swings closed without any thought.
Just like a real knife !

What has happened here ? ? ? ?
Has some kind of solvent in the teflon washers finally gassed out and the teflon has hardened / got thinner / flatter ? ? ?

Has the G10 scales done some similar thing and are now slightly harder / thinner / flatter ? ? ?

Or does it have something to do with the obit of Mars and it's aspects with the other planets ?

Doesn't it have self lubricating washers?
Like I don't think it's bronze in there. Could be wrong. I should really read your whole post first eh? ;)

I wish.
I have always wished that since I got it (up till now).
Spyderco Elves must have snuck in and replaced the washers. I should look.
But I don't want to jinks it.

Actualy, I think it’s safe gnomes.

I swear sometimes I put away perfectly tuned knives only to pull them out days or weeks later to find blade play.

Wowbagger Wowbagger it seems your elves are better trained than my gnomes. Your’s actually improve things.

For what it is worth the lube has only been Starrett Instrument Oil and hardly any.

Hahaha
Must be Keebler gnomes; like I said, knives are stored on cookie sheets.
EyeDnOh.

Maybe these washers got straighter by laying around being squashed flat and finally annealed in place perfectly :) with the help of some other voodoo chemical reaction.

I'm sure you've hit on it.
That and some sort of zombie influence; after all it is pretty close to Halloween !

#willpower
Nope.
If I had sufficient willpower to effect the material world I would have been able to convince Sal to go ahead with the Pattada in K390.
But alas I failed and then slunk away to my lair miserable and powerless.

Not the point.
