Hey folks..I was just wondering how long it took you to break in your spydie? I just picked up an Endura II today and it is really stiff. I added some break free to the mechanism and it seemed to loosen up a bit..any great ideas? I remember seeing these enduras open with even the slightest flick of the wrist...

The ss handled ones? Hmm They are either very loose or in my case really tight. That is my expereince anyways.

I remember it taking several days worth of opening my Harpy to smooth out the action. Seemed like a great excuse to do what I do anyway! It will get smoother...just takes a few hundred openings.

haha..that is exactly what I was thinking...I love opening and closing it. I am a total spydie turn around..everytime I saw them I marvelled at their uglieness and ineffeciency..until the day I picked one up. Alot like my first experience with a Glock..now I am hooked on both.

They loosen up with use... or lube up and cycle while watching TV. Plug in a movie...

My SS 'Fly is by far the smoothest opening spydie I have. The Glasshartt Special SS 'Fly that I recieved in Jan is still stiff though(not going to be carrying daily, so it'll stay stiff).

Use Breakfree-CLP, militech-1, or weapons lube and work the action a few hundred times(good long movie... LOTR 2 perhaps?), and wipe off any stuff that works it way out of the pivot(crud and lube). I lube my spydies every month or so, but my 'fly hasn;t been lubed in a while. needs it soon as it's catching a bit.

Spyderco's are a great thing to be hooked on! Anyway, just give it a few hundred openings or so and it'll break in nice and smooth.
Matt
