Hi everyone. I just got my first CRK, a small Sebenza 21 CF just a couple of weeks ago. I love the knife but it still feels a little stiff.

Can you recommend a "break in" procedure or practice for a new CRK?

I've not disassembled the knife or applied any lubricant, just started light using it straight out of the box.

Thanks in advance.

Ah yes. The Small 21. An awesome knife. Try to get used to opening and closing it as you watch tv or just kicking back. It will break you in. Enjoy

My small 21 started a little stiff too. I dissasembled after a week, cleaned thoroughly, greased it up and put it back together. Loosened it up for sure.

Give it some time. It well work itself in. If you grease the pivot, go lightly, too much will make it gummy and stiff.

As mentioned earlier..Cycle it open and close..It takes a bit to wear the parts in to each other..

The knife will get smoother with age (assuming it's not just sitting lol) but IMO there is no need to hurry the process along! Just throw it in your pocket and start to give it some use, and before you know it the knife will be super smooth.

Sometimes I will pinch the blade and work it back and forth. I forego locking it open in this manic operation. All the above works also. Good day

I used a pin to put a little grease in and around the blades detent hole, this made it easier to open and as the grease got spread by the detent ball over it's track it immediately improved the opening and closing smoothness.

Another vote for "use it and you get used to it".
It is my experience, that if taken apart and reassambled the feeling is different.
YMMV
enjoy.

Thanks for all the advice. I'm just going to work it. I like playing with knives while I watch TV, I'll just make sure its always my CRK!

+1 I've reassembled my Sebenza a few times just to break it back down and flip a washer or bushing in order to capture a "certain" feeling. Some video "how to clean your Sebenza" walkthroughs stress that the knife should be "as smooth, if not smoother" than before, however I disagree. I find that expectation is more applicable to a well broken-in Sebenza.

A new knife broken down, even if assembled back exactly the way it was prior to, will almost feel like pressing reset on the process.

Yup. This also works.
