Suppose I lost my memory due to a hard fall. Doctors say I am suffering from amnesia. It may be temporary. It could last days, weeks or even months.

Is there any known procedure whereby my memory can be jolted and the mis-wired memory circuits be put back in proper order?

Not knowing who you are, where you are going and where you came from is not exactly a comfortable state to be in.

How do medical practitioners help such people?

It is very common to be unable to recall the events right before and after head trauma. Long-term memory is not usually affected, unless the brain receives major damage, in which case the patient has to re-learn everything, and may never fully recover normal functioning at all, much less regain memory. Hopefully someone who works with rehabilitation can provide more information. Amnesia as shown in TV and movies is mostly just screen writer's fantasy.

What *may* help ist taking high doses (read the instructions :) ) of glutaminic acid (spelling?).

There's absolutely nothing dangerous about this stuff, and it's almost impossible to take too much of it - it is a simple but important nutrient of the neurons (nerve cells).

Maybe it doesn't help too much, but it makes all your neurons feel happy and fed :D and this may help to overcome the brain injuries a bit faster ..
