how long does it take to breack in a new mini-commander? and don't tell me it depends on how often I handle it.

I'm asking because mine is very tigh. Its hard to open and to close. To be honest if you compare it to the action of a william henry folder, the mini-commander is crap. and yes, I tried to tune the pivot, but than the blade starts to wobble.

If you honestly cannot fine tune the pivot screw tension without blade wobble then something is wrong with the knife and your should return the knife. Since you don't want to hear that the amount of use determines the length of the break-in period then I am out of suggestions.

It's a screw.
On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being completely loose, and 10 being torqued down tight, there are ten thousand increments of varying tension, one of them is right for your knife.

Put a drop of blue (non-permanent) LocTite on the screw, install the screw, tighten it all the way down, then back it off to where you want it. Let it sit undisturbed for several hours. You shouldn't have any more problems.

There is no real "break in" to speak of. Where you set the tension is where it will stay.

If break in was an important factor with EKI knives, it would definitely depend on how much you used it. It won't break itself in.

I'm somewhat late but my experience is that even a very, very small tightening of the pivot makes a great difference.

Think of it as a watch and that even a minute of tightening makes a difference.
My 1998/1999's make a whole lot of difference in just a very, very small adjustment of the pivot.

Best of luck :)
