I have long been intrigued by the Breeden Rescue, especially now at the closeout prices. My only hesitation is I fear I won't use it often. To those who have it, do you find it to be an every day user, or more of a specialty/novelty blade?

Well first off I don't have the Breeden RESCUE model as of yet. But I am a huge fan of his Captain model which Spyderco had before they made his RESCUE. I serously want one of his RESCUE models because I find that Captain to be a very handy tool when I carry it daily.

I am going to make it a point to get myself one>> but one thing that disappointed me greatly about the Spyderco Breeden RESCUE model is that they didn't offer it in full Spyderedge ( fully serrated). To me that just makes no sense at all because all of Spyderco's other RESCUE type knives are all offered in full Spyderedge

I just think that knife would have so many more rugged utility uses if it were in Spyderedge. I am definitely a fan of Breeden's designs but they sure should have made the Captain the the RESCUE models both available in SPYDEREDGE  I just don't get it :confused:

I've had one for about a year and a half and use it regularly. I really liked the funky looks and originally bought it as yard work type of knife. It's role has widened and I have been using it as more of an every day knife. The lack of a point makes it look less scary to NKP which makes it easier for me to carry a larger knife at work. It is seen as more of a user / utility knife rather than a pointy scary thing. Another benefit of the lack of point is that I don't mind lending it out to co-workers etc as I am not worried about them snapping the tip. It takes up a good bit of pocket space, but I just drop this one in a back pocket and it really isn't an issue.

It is not a great slicer, but it is great for an every day role if you can get over the lack of a point and the amount of space it takes in the pocket. I grabbed a second one on close out. I don't know if it will work for you, but it does a good job with how I use a knife.
