Ok, in the other thread someone asked about how well this knife made fuzzies because I had neglected to post any pics of making that in the review. Since I had done a pictorial in a "why to have your knife and fire starter on you" thread on another forum I thought it was a good illustration of how well this knife makes fuzzies. Since Bryan made the sheathe of this knife this way for me I really like having my knife and firesteel together, although I'm afraid I'm going to have to cut away part of the loop/pouch in order to secure it better now that I've worn a good bit of it off making fires. I need to have him make the smaller one like that also.

There is no fatwood in the pics below just shavings from a dead pine limb, and the tips of some dead branches, and a small pine limb that I split into slivers... brought to life with just a few sparks from a light my fire fire steel. From start to finish this took about ten minutes even stopping to take pics. This knife makes fuzzies well enough to suit me just fine. If needed I can take some close-ups.

yea me liky LOL. I love this knife design LOL

Oh and do not cut any of the pouch away just make a landyard for your firesteel and put through the handled of the fire steel and then tie off other end to your sheath belt loop that is what I did for my Green handled one or take some elastic cord and tie it off to your firesteel and then stretch the cord down and around your sheath and there you go. I do that with my Orange handle firesteel and with the orange handled knife sheath.
If you need a pic let me know.

Here is apic anyways LOL

Great pics showing off the knife. Like ROCK said, I like the knife a lot! Good design and execution. Thanks for sharing.

Man that knife is soooo...

*bangs head on desk*

How much do they go for? lol

Hi all,

Rocks 6 yes do keep in touch. I know what you mean about there is something that just calls out to you about this design it did me to when mistwalker first showed me the design. I was like stunned and yet knew right away that this was the one I wanted to make and carry for my adventures and then when Mistwalker and I started to discuss the whys and hows of this design it all fell into place for me that is. I think it did for mistwalker to but then he had to come up with another design LOL I think that design will fill the gap for mistwalkers urban forays LOL. I should have it done in the next couple of weeks so keep a eye for it myabe it will be the one you say to yourself yep that is the one LOL. The Warthorn is my favorite I was telling mistwalker in a e-mail to him earlyer to day that I have been fondling his new knife design blank and then my Warthorn LOL back and forth just really trying to get the feel for the new one VRS my Warthorn and for me the Warthorn is the one I like better. I kind of think when the new one is made up mistwalker is going to to GAGA over it though LOL. We will just have t wait and see LOL. heck he might just llike them both the same who knows.

LOL I thought once you seen it caine. It would call you, doing what you do now LOL. The Warthorn will serve you well:D

Joben, thanks mistwalker and I are pretty pleased with them this design so far LOL

In the pic that I posted with the 2 Warthorns the Green handled one is around $200 with a basic sheath an then if you wanted a sheath some what like the sheath I have for my orange one then they are $230 roughly. I also have a small knife on the back of my orange handled knifes sheath too.

I did more with this sheath than I did with mistwalker and mine green handles sheaths.

Depending on the handle materail to will depend on the over all price.

Thanks.

can't afford that right now, but it's on my short list for sure.
That really is a great looking knife, both asthetically and functionally.

Very nice Demo, thanks Mistwalker. I need to go practice now. :D

I need go dig up the original thread on this knife, I might have missed it while I was away. I'm interested to see why you chose the features you did and how you and Bryan ended up with the final design.

Thanks, it's good to practice with any material you can find that you think will make good tinder; catkins, rushes, seed heads of grasses whatever. try them and if they don't ignite at first dry them and break them into smaller pieces and try again.

Here is the original thread. It explains the reasons behind the features, as you'll see it's not the knife for everyone but it works well for me due to what I learned with growing up and then later in life.

Thank you for the link, I was just about to click on your profile to go find it .

No problem bro,

If you want to dig through my post history there are more threads that involve firesteel use.

Yea that is what I am talking about LOL I love fire pics. Glad you could not resist LOL

Thanks, just wanted to show that even if you have to adapt your style to it's particular characteristics (because of the edge geometry these are done with a drawing rather than a planing motion)...a sharp knife is still a sharp knife, and wood is still wood. If you get hung up on just one way of looking at something, or just one way of doing something, you severely limit yourself in a wilderness or survival situation. Different edge geometries perform differently as we all know. Wishing you had a specific grind to perform a particular task, or complaining about the one you have at the moment, will not prevent frostbite.
