My lastest knife from Bret is a prototype 3 5/8 Zulu. Fit and finish is as good or better than any custom I have ever owned. Now for the pictures. Larry

3 5/8 closed
6 3/8 open
ATS34 steel
Half stop with maybe a 6 on the pull scale
Natural Canvas Micarta

Look at the backspring fit,,, the small lines at the tang is oil from openning and closing.

Great knife, Larry!

I was just (a minute or two ago) admiring my Dowell slipjoint that I was fortunate enough to pick up from you at Blade this year. That was a serendipitous find for sure.

As you say, Bret's work is excellent (at any price point). That little spear blade of mine is one of my favorites and part of the permanent collection.

Nice one Larry.Nice job Bret,

Hi,

Wow! The shape of that blade and the swedge are so right. And the natural micarta just makes it all pop.

Bret Dowell does excellent work. I have one of his swaybacks in my pocket at this very moment.

Great knife!
Nice version of a Zulu spear (or modified Wharncliffe if you will) blade.
My admiration for the maker, and my envy for you, Larry!!;)

My avatar speaks for me as well!

Nice pattern. We (my son and myself) have three of Bret's knives. Great edges and a heck of a good maker.

Larry,
That is nice I really like the blade shape.
Thanks for sharing.

I haven't handled any of Bret's knives but you can tell a lot from the images that his work is top notch. This knife looks a lot like the Bose Zulu Spear.

Excellent! Love the zulu blade shape!

BTW, I am the only one that noticed the sharpened dowel next to the sharpened Dowell? :)
